ph33r th3 n3on glow of th3 city at night...
Ever since Megatokyo began, people have been bugging me for a cast poster. A REAL cast poster, which included ALL the Megatokyo characters, would be a nightmare (because there are so many) but for a long time i've wanted to draw something that captured the world of Megatokyo as a whole. Not so easy, when your theme is that every character sees the world around them differently. :) That's part of why most of the artwork i've done for Megatokyo has been so specific. It's hard to create something that has a solid theme without a character's specific world filter :)
I've sketched a lot of scenes like this, with Piro, Kimiko, Largo and Erika simply walking through some part of the city at night, but this one really worked for me. Of course, you can't have a night scene (or really a poster) without color, so i enlisted the help of Hawk to give it some of that Downtown Tokyo-at-night mad city glow.
Character art and backgrounds by Fred Gallagher. Color by Mohammad F. Haque (then hacked and tweaked by Fred - hawk tends to lean towards much warmer colors than I do. I like to look at it like i took the acid rain feel out of it :P)
